Warrior Homes

The Hunger and Homeless Coalition of Collier estimates that there are 51 homeless Veterans in Collier County in January 2023.

Our signature program, Warrior Homes, is held close to the hearts of many patriotic citizens, charitable organizations, and government services within our county. Warrior Homes provides healthy and safe living environments for Veterans in need of a hand up and not a handout.

Warrior Homes started in early 2018 as the result of our community coming together to address the homeless issues faced by local Veterans. Many businesses, contractors, and volunteers have generously donated their time and materials. Without our supporters, the Warrior Homes program would not be what it is today.

In 2022, we achieved a reduction in homeless Veterans by collaborating with our community partners, St. Matthew’s House, St. Vincent de Paul, Homeless Coalition and the VA. In addition, major support and funding by the private sector such as the Collier Community Foundation, the Schulze Family Foundation, and philanthropic donors and organizations like Gold Star and Blue Star Moms has allowed us to fulfill our mission.

To end Veteran homelessness in Collier County, we have committed to a Functional Zero status, meaning no homeless Veterans in Collier County. The Warrior Homes program currently provides thirty-three (33) beds for local Veterans with more to come with the new Delta House.

The Alpha House

The Alpha House, located in Naples, provides short-term transitional housing for local homeless veterans who struggle with mental health and/or substance abuse issues, and need a hand up, not a handout. The average stay is 8 months; 24 Veterans have been housed since it’s opening in 2019. The Alpha House has a success rate of 86% for Veterans transitioning successfully back into the community. This home was made possible in part by major donations from Doug Dittrick, Gina Boesch, and several anonymous donors.

The Bravo House

The Bravo House, which opened in April 2021, is a 3-bedroom home located in Naples and provides long-term, supportive housing to senior, single, unmarried veterans who meet eligibility. Rent is capped at 30% of the Veteran’s gross income. The average resident age at the Bravo house is in the mid 60’s to mid-70’s age range. This home was purchased with a major donation from the Collier Community Foundation.

The Charlie House

The Charlie House, which opened in April 2022, is also located in Naples and will provide long-term, affordable housing to senior single, unmarried veterans who meet eligibility requirements. The Charlie House was made possible by an anonymous donor for additional housing over the next 5 years for three more senior Veterans.

The Delta House PROJECT

We are so excited and proud to report that our signature Warrior Homes Housing Program has raised slightly over 1 million dollars in donations year to date! These funds are designated to be used to fund our current housing project – The Delta House.
The Delta House, which is a 10-unit apartment complex that provides long-term supportive housing for up to 20 male & female Veterans, is a multimillion-dollar complex that was purchased with the money we have raised year to date. Apartments are currently occupied at 70% and forecast to be at 100% by the end of 2023. Seventy percent of the balance is financed with a 3-year loan by First Foundation Bank. The closing date was July 9, 2022. Watch for an upcoming capital campaign launch in 2023!
