Warrior Homes of Collier Purchases 10-Unit Zulu Project to House 20 Local Veterans

Warrior Homes of Collier has reached a major milestone in its mission to support homeless veterans in Southwest Florida. Earlier this month, the nonprofit closed on the purchase of a 10-unit apartment complex in East Naples, now named the Zulu Project, with the goal of housing 20 veterans as part of its 2026 initiative to end local veteran homelessness for those who want housing and a fresh start.

The complex, located in the same neighborhood as Warrior Homes’ Delta House, was acquired for $2.3 million. Warrior Homes contributed a $700,000 down payment and financed the remainder, with leadership targeting an 18-month payoff timeline. While the building’s structure is in solid condition for its age, the interiors require a full remodel, including electrical upgrades to meet current code, roof replacement, and removal of the existing pool to make space for a new recreational area. Renovations are projected at $750,000, averaging about $75,000 per unit, with completion anticipated by mid-2026.

Warrior Homes is also strengthening its impact through new community partnerships. PulteGroup’s Southwest Florida Market has joined the effort, providing in-kind contributions toward the remodel, potentially valued at $500,000, including cabinetry, appliances, and other interior materials. The project’s demolition work is being led by Scott Williams, a formerly homeless veteran who once received housing support from Warrior Homes and now owns Monarch Commerce Services, a local demolition company.

This acquisition supports a broader regional need. According to the SWFL Regional Coalition to End Homelessness, the January 2025 Point-in-Time count identified 39 homeless veterans in Collier County, within a total population of 756 people experiencing homelessness countywide.

Warrior Homes’ work spans more than a decade. Founded in 2014, the organization now operates six residences serving distinct veteran populations and has provided housing for 147+ veterans to date, helping restore stability, dignity, and purpose.
