Scholarship recipient profiled on WINK News

Local veteran Marc Michel, a Warrior Homes of Collier scholarship recipient, was featured in an Oct. 21 WINK News story about the Warrior Homes of Collier college scholarship program.

Michel is one of four Collier County students with military ties to receive the $5,000 annual college scholarships, including several recent high school graduates.

Michel is a native of Haiti and Navy veteran who served in the Persian Gulf War and is now pursuing a master’s degree in industrial psychology. The David Lawrence Centers’ case manager spent four years in the Navy after his graduation from Palmetto Ridge High School, earning his undergraduate degree in psychology from Florida Gulf Coast University.

Michel is on track to earn a master’s degree in industrial psychology from Keiser University in December, with plans to next pursue a doctorate degree and continue working with veterans. In his current role, Michel counsels several residents of Warrior Homes’ Alpha House.
