Wounded Warriors of Collier County was founded in 2010 by Dale A. Mullin but was officially established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt organization in 2014. No, Warrior Homes of Collier (WHC) is a locally founded and operated 501(c)(3) that is not affiliated with the Wounded Warrior Project in any capacity. More than 90% of all income is used to provide direct support for our veterans in Collier County.
Yes, to help accomplish our mission we work locally with the Veterans Treatment Court, the Hunger & Homeless Coalition, David Lawrence Centers, VA, St. Vincent DePaul, Jewish Children & Family Services, and Collier County Sheriff’s Office. We also work with the Collier Community Foundation and the Schulze Family Foundation in support of community funding strategies for veterans.

Given the predominantly volunteer structure of WHC, we have been able to achieve results while spending approximately 13.5% on administrative and office expenses. Remaining funds are dedicated to veteran support and organizational growth with donor funds strictly serving our local veterans and their families only in Collier County.

Yes, we do! Legacy or planned giving is a donation made by an individual through a will or other formal designation, which is meant to reflect the values and desires of the donor. As the name suggests, most donors want to leave a legacy or memory of their life through their posthumous giving. Additionally, WHC also offers posthumous or non-posthumous donation naming rights to our homes and rooms within our homes. By supporting our Warrior Homes program, local veterans who are in need of housing and meet admission criteria can secure a safe and healthy place to live in our community.
Veterans are selected through referrals from our local partners, including the VA, St. Matthew’s House, Veterans Treatment Court, the David Lawrence Centers the Hunger & Homeless Coalition, and the Salvation Army.
The initial cost of investment is $150,000 per bed. Purchase vs rent will ensure veterans in our community will always have a place to call home.

Our new name is a more precise reflection of our mission to provide homes for veterans. It also clearly identifies our location and future direction as an organization.
